  • With the presidential and national assembly elections taking place on Saturday, February 16, 2019, the office will close at 1.45pm on Friday, February 15, 2019, to enable everyone get home safely.
  • Regarding resumption of work on Monday, February 18, you are advised to await further communication (email and SMS) from TMM before leaving your homes for work.

Travel Restrictions during the Elections

Today, the Nigerian Police Force announced a country-wide restriction to vehicular movement between the hours of 6am to 6pm on Saturday, 16th February, 2019. In addition, the Federal Government has announced the closure of the country’s borders from Friday, February 15, 2019 to Sunday, February 17, 2019.

Personal Security

Following threats of disruption to the election by rogue bodies such as Boko Haram, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants and IPOB; you are advised to have a heightened sense of security, especially at polling centers.

The Department of State Security (DSS) has also raised the alarm on the threat of fake news, and hate speeches capable of stoking the embers of violence. Based on this, you are advised to be careful in forwarding and sharing messages on your social media handles.

As citizens, it is our duty to actively participate in elections by going out to cast our votes. You are advised to go out on Saturday, 16th February, 2019 to cast your votes for your choice of presidential and federal legislative candidates.

TG Expo To Hold Maiden Edition Of Machinery, Metal And Steel Exhibition In Nigeria

TG Expo, which is an international trade fair organizer, will host the first ever Machinery Metal & Steel Exhibition to the industry professionals and government officials in Nigeria at the Expo Center of the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos from the 18th to the 20th of October 2017.

Nigeria’s major aluminum imports include aluminum plates, profiles, structures, bars and doors, windows and their frames & thresholds. These product groups account for 18% of Nigeria’s entire imports.

Nigeria is a net importer of machinery as its imports in 2015 amounted to 4.52 billion USD. 11.1% of Nigeria’s aggregate imports in 2015 were machinery imports. Nigeria’s top machinery imports include taps, cocks, valves and similar appliances for pipes, boiler shells, tanks used in oil industry, machines and mechanical appliances having individual functions and pumps for liquids, whether or not fitted with a measuring device.

Two Nigerians, Imrana Alhaji Buba and Adepeju Jaiyeoba, have been announced as recipients of JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons (JCI TOYP) of the year award for 2017. This is the first time in the organisation’s 34 years history that two Nigerians will appear on the global list, which features inspiring young achievers nominated by JCI organisations in over 120 countries, and selected through public votes and a panel of judges.

The remarkable achievement was revealed in a statement released by Junior Chamber International from its St. Louis, United States global headquarters.

Adepeju and Imrana were recently honoured at the JCI Nigeria 60th Anniversary TOYP Gala in Lagos alongside other recipients of the national edition of the awards. The two will later join 8 other global honorees to be celebrated at the 2017 JCI Awards Ceremony on November 9th, 2017 during the JCI World Congress in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Imrana Buba, an indigene of Yobe State is being honoured for Contribution to Children, World Peace and Human Rights based on his efforts in founding and leading Youth Coalition Against Terrorism (YOCAT), a team of over 600 students, lawyers, health care professionals, educators, development workers, and activists working since 2010 to unite youth against violent extremism in North-Eastern Nigeria.

Adepeju Jaiyeoba, a trained lawyer, is being honoured in the Medical Innovation category for her efforts in addressing the national challenge of inadequate maternal healthcare, through her Brown Button Foundation, which has trained over 60,000 Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) on modern medical skills across 33 Nigerian states, touching the lives of 60,000 women and babies.

Junior Chamber International (JCI), a 101 years old organisation present in over 120 countries, uses the Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Awards as a platform to identify, recognize and celebrate young professionals under the age of 40, who are doing outstanding work in their various communities and fields of endeavour across the world.
