Nigeria’s fastest growing stout brand, Legend Extra Stout will be joining millions of Nigerians to celebrate the life and times of Nigerian’s foremost musical icon, the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti at this year’s Felabration.

The annual festival which kicks off on Monday, October, 9 will run for one week and end on Sunday, October 15; which coincides with Fela’s birthday. This year’s festival is themed “The Prophecy”.

BHM Restructures for Industry Leadership, Announces New Board Members and Business Heads

BHM today announced the appointment of two new Executive Directors, Femi Falodun and Moruff Adenekan to its Board of Directors.

The new board was strategically constituted in line with the company’s corporate governance structure and is expected to steer BHM in the right direction towards realizing its corporate mission and vision.

Femi Falodun is currently the Chief Digital Officer for BHM. Under his leadership, BHM launched its digital agency, ID Africa, which became profitable within two years, establishing itself as a force to reckon with in digital communication and creative content marketing on the African continent.

Reacting to his appointment, Femi said:

“I feel deeply honoured to take on this new role at BHM. It is a fantastic opportunity to contribute more at a strategic level to the realisation of our corporate vision and mission. I eagerly look forward to working with the Board and excellent staff across different units to strengthen BHM’s standing as an industry leader.”

Femi has a B.Sc. in Biochemistry, an MBA, and post-graduate diploma in Marketing. Before joining BHM in 2014, he spent 6 years at Zenith Bank Plc, working in Operations, Marketing and Consumer Banking functions.

Adenekan who was just recently announced as the new General Manager/COO of BHM was before his appointment, Head of Operations at C&F Porter Novelli Lagos. Prior to C&F Porter Novelli, Adenekan had worked with Chain Reactions Nigeria, Medallion Consulting, Commstrat Associates and Campaign & Concept Advertising and serviced clients in sectors such as fast moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, media, utilities, government among many others.

In his comment, Moruff said: “I am excited to join the BHM Board; the company has done well for itself. The task ahead is to take the firm to the next stage of growth and development. I look forward to working with other members of the Board and creating a proactive, productive and energetic team.”

Access Bank, Nysc Partner To Train Youth In North East Nigeria

As part of its collaboration with the Federal Government through the NYSC scheme, leading commercial bank, Access Bank Plc. is developing integrated skill acquisition centers across Nigeria’s North-East.

These training centers are designed to empower thousands of young people with vocational skills that will aid poverty alleviation and drive long term, sustainable economic growth in the entire region which has been affected by years of crisis.

These training centres, the first set of which is currently being constructed in Gombe State, will also see NYSC Corps members deployed as part of their compulsory 12 months national service. While NYSC has existing training centers across the country, these are the largest so far.

Speaking on the partnership, Access Bank’s Executive Director, Personal Banking Division, Victor Etuokwu said the Bank has had a long-standing relationship with the NYSC.

Mr. Etuokwu also added that Access Bank was proud to be associated with the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme, while re-emphasising the bank’s commitment towards achieving the goals of the programme.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) confirmed that Nigeria’s unemployment rate rose to 14.2% in the last quarter of 2016. Meanwhile, total number of persons fully employed in the country dropped by about 1,000,000 (1.8%) when compared to Q3 2016, a decrease of 1.92 million (3.5% drop) when compared to Q4 2015.

Imrana, an indigene of Yobe State was nominated for Contribution to Children, World Peace and Human Rights based on his efforts in founding and leading Youth Coalition Against Terrorism (YOCAT), a team of over 600 students, lawyers, health care professionals, educators, development workers, and activists working since 2010 to unite youth against violent extremism in North-Eastern Nigeria.

Adepeju, a trained lawyer, is nominated in the Medical Innovation category for her efforts in addressing the national challenge of inadequate maternal healthcare, through her Brown Button Foundation, which has trained over 60,000 Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) on modern medical skills across 33 Nigerian states, touching the lives of 60,000 women and babies.

The final ten 2017 JCI TOYP honorees will be selected by a judging panel, comprised of representatives from select partner organizations and the JCI World President, and also by a public online voting system which closes on Friday, August 25, 2017.
